COMEDY AND JAZZ COLLIDE TO COLLABORATE IN MYRTLE BEACH
– Carolina Improv Company brings its show to P.Reynolds Jazz Club & Restaurant on Saturday nights in April and May –
March 18, 2019, Myrtle Beach, S.C.- Nothing could be more improvisational than jazz and comedy. And now the two collide in Myrtle Beach as Carolina Improv produces improv comedy shows at P. Reynolds Jazz Club & Restaurant in Myrtle Beach on Saturday nights in April and May.
A venue in Myrtle Beach that offers improv comedy, jazz, dinner and cocktails: It makes so much sense, it seems crazy no one has tried it before.
Thanks to the vision of two local entrepreneurs, those two improvisational entertainment and art forms will come together on Saturday nights in April and May at P. Reynolds at the jazz dinner club. In the tradition of improvisation, Patrice Reynolds, founder of the jazz venue, and Gina Trimarco, founder of Carolina Improv, will offer both genres to see what happens.
Carolina Improv, founded in 2008, has presented shows at Myrtle Beach Mall since 2009. Trimarco said she is exploring spaces in the area for pop-up performances as mall owners explore an overhaul for the mall, leaving current tenants in limbo about the future of their businesses.
“Carolina Improv is hitting the road and taking the show to P. Reynolds in Myrtle Beach,” Trimarco said. “Why not have dinner and drinks first, laugh at us and stay for some great jazz?”
Reynolds opened in 2018 at 1212 North Kings Highway, the site of the former Library Restaurant. Reynolds, a musician and playwright, spotlights local musicians and recording artists and also has a room set up for performances such as plays and poetry readings.
“I truly believe and always quote that ‘We Are Better Together.’ Gina gets that and I am so happy to collaborate with her and the improv company. I’m so excited to see what we can create together. We have wonderful NEW summer cocktails and fabulous food,” Reynolds said.
The Improv Night Live show will be aimed at those 18 and older at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays in April and May. Those who want to attend can buy $15 tickets online at carolinaimprov.com or at the door for $17. About Carolina Improv Company
Founded in November 2008, by Chicago native and Second City trained Gina Trimarco, Carolina Improv Company (CIC) offers improv classes for adults, improv comedy shows and customized entertainment for private events and groups. They also provide improv-based sales and customer service training programs for organizations. Improv is an art form used to train people how to think quickly on their feet and get out of their heads and this often leads to organic comedy. At Carolina Improv Company they like to say “funny happens”. If you’re new to improv comedy, think of the television show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” in which the performers create comedy spontaneously from suggestions. CIC is located at the Uptown Theater inside the Myrtle Beach Mall. They also are the recipient of the 2009 Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Business Innovation Award and the 2018 Diversity Champion Award.
