Jean Bennett

Ensemble Member

Biography

Jean was raised by a pack of dogs in the western suburb of Chicago, River Forest.  Here she developed her talents for the performing arts as a talking lion in summer stage.  Her eighth-grade performance as Judge Danforth in the Crucible left her with many scars from persecuting people for actually being themselves.

Music plays an important role in Jean’s life.  She fell in love with singing letters in her high school choral performance of O-k-l-a-h-o-m-a where chicks and ducks and geese better scurry.  She provided a solo performance of “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” during her junior year which proved to be wrong.  For the following year, she fell in love that has lasted 45 years and still going strong.

During those 45 years, Jean has produced two wonderful children, is the proud “GiGi” to Layten and Blaine, raised six dogs (four of whom were rescues), diagnosed cancer as a cytotechnologist, sang in her church choir for 20 years and provided an exceptional educational experience for over 450 children.

Jean is an Irish glucht siúil.  She has lived in Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. It was here in Myrtle Beach that Jean discovered improv through her co-worker, Jenn Shinaberger (a fellow player at CIC). Needing to develop a quicker response to HOA shenanigans, she found improv as the solution. CIC has become Jean’s new pack and she enjoys taking classes and performing with her the improv dogs.
